Origin Made in Japan

Hiyashiame is one of the oldest kakigori flavors in Japan. The name means cold candy syrup in Edo-period Japanese, and the drink itself predates modern shaved ice machines by centuries. Most contemporary kakigori shops no longer offer it, which makes it a genuinely rare find. This cafe-style concentrate captures that traditional ginger warmth faithfully.

The flavor is unlike anything else in the range: warm ginger heat on a sweet base, producing a kakigori that is cooling and warming simultaneously. It is the syrup that surprises people who think they know what kakigori tastes like, and the one most likely to generate conversation at a stall or restaurant table.

Best combinations

  • Hiyashiame solo: traditional and complete — no toppings needed
  • Hiyashiame + kuromitsu drizzle: ginger and black sugar — the Edo-period sweetness combination
  • Hiyashiame + shiratama: ginger syrup with mochi — a wagashi-style kakigori
